Book OnlineOverbite
An overbite happens when your top teeth overlap your bottom teeth. A slight overbite (1-3 mm) is normal for most people, but some experience a more pronounced overlap. An overbite becomes excessive when the top teeth cover the bottom teeth by 3 to 9 mm or more.
Underbite
Underbites occur when the lower teeth extend beyond the upper teeth. Although less common than overbites, underbites can cause similar difficulties with chewing, speech, and jaw discomfort. You might notice the chin is pushed forward in these cases.
Crossbite
A crossbite arises when the upper jaw is narrower than the lower jaw, causing the upper teeth to sit inside the lower teeth. Sometimes, the opposite happens with a smaller lower jaw. Crossbites can affect one or both sides of the mouth.
Open Bite
An open bite is when the upper and lower teeth don’t meet when your mouth is closed. This is most often seen with front teeth but can happen on either side. Open bites are rare and are the least common type of misalignment.
Crowded Teeth
Ideally, teeth have enough room to erupt without overlapping or leaving gaps. Crowding happens when teeth don’t have enough space, leading to misalignment and bite issues.
Gapped Teeth
Gaps between teeth can result from jaw and tooth size differences, gum disease, missing teeth, or habits like thumb sucking. Whether your gaps are small or large, our orthodontist can recommend treatments to close them effectively.
